About William Pattengill
Both of my parents were commercial artists and I began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil, with their encouragement and a little instruction. Over the years I have explored many visual media, including paint, ink, collage, mixed media, etc. I had been looking down upon digital art as being too commercialized, and reliant on special effects and other artificial enhancements. When I saw David Hockney’s work on his iPad, simulating watercolor so faithfully, I changed my tune and began experimenting myself. I’m trying to keep a feeling of traditional media and not be tempted to overdo the bells and whistles that lead into the realm of the sci-fi look that I had associated with this medium.
